Established in 1961, the Hanover Lions Club follows the Lions motto of "We Serve". We serve in many ways - from hands on involvement in community activities such as health screening services - glaucoma, eye, blood pressure, and hearing - to fund raising activities. In 2011, The Club celebrated 50 years of service to the Town of Hanover and various Lions eyesight and hearing projects.
Our fund raising activities include a yearly golf tournament, pancake breakfast, weekly meat raffles, and a Christmas raffle, and Pasta Festa . 100% of all money raised goes to charities selected by the club each year. Our charitable interests address local, state, national, and international needs. Last year, we donated over $15,000 to charitable causes.
This year promises to be an exciting new year with the addition of new initiatives and the revival of some we've done in the past. The emphasis is on community and how we as Lions can contribute. In addition to the speech contest for high school students, we also have a Peace Poster Contest for middle school students. We also plan on continuing our raffle activities (meat and Christmas), pancake breakfasts, golf tournament, and eyemobile activities.
We are actively seeking new members who want to serve their community in some way. If you are 18 years or old and want to learn more about LIONS, please call anyone of the officers listed above. Come try us out!!!
